Episode 32: "Staged"

Help! How do you make a podcast?

Seriously, how did we used to do this? What email did we use to create our Patreon? What’s our Twitter password? Why doesn’t Squarespace look exactly like it did 18 months ago? Oy, so much change. Oy, so much discomfort. Oy, so much endless bewilderment.

Hi. It’s December of 2021. We are tired and we are confused and we are BACK, baby.

Last time we posted an episode in June of 2020, we signed off with the following: “Stay in touch and hopefully, by the time we record season six, we’ll all be just a bit better off than we are now.” Perhaps that’s actually come true — we are “just a bit better off.” We have vaccines and we have boosters and we have an affable geriatric in the White House. Still, it’s a bit hard to concentrate these days, ain’t it? Reading is hard. Brewing tea is exhausting. When did I last pay my gas bill? When did I say I’d make that call? When in the hell did I get so old?

We’re easing into the swing-o-things really gently, folks. First up is a discussion of the show Staged starring David Tennant and Michael Sheen. Filmed during 2020 when lockdown was still somewhat new, Staged chronicles the super slowed-down lives of two successful actors who find themselves stuck at home with nothing to do but…wait. I mean, sometimes they talk about rehearsing a play, but ya know — reading is hard.

We’re back. And we’re okay-er than ever.
