Episode 33: "The Vicar of Dibley."

Have you heard the good news? Your prayers (aka: Tweets) have been answered — we’ve officially watched and discussed The Vicar of Dibley.

Watching this show felt like a bit of a journey. For a while we wondered if we were too cynical for a sitcom about a bubbly lady vicar in a small, silly town, but it turns out we’re not soulless after all. Geraldine Granger is a miracle, ok? She’s an incredible friend, leader, and comedian, and perhaps the #1 best clergyperson of all time. (We say “perhaps” because the competition is formidable.) Basically, if you’ve got a problem with Geraldine, you’ve got a problem with us. Hallelujah, we have found Her.

Aside from getting to know a hip lady who’ll join you for Christmas lunch even when she’s at capacity, it was also nice to visit a town where everyone’s always hangin’ out. Pandemic life in 2021 may feel different than it did in 2020, but it still doesn’t feel super homey, does it? Community is important, even if the members of your community are inappropriately, ahem, obsessed with livestock. For all its stupid setbacks, life in Dibley doesn’t seem so bad — especially if it means inheriting a social circle that’s never, ever boring.

We hope you enjoy this episode as much as we do. God bless ye, fellow Anglophiles.
